Gun Violence Prevention

Each year, an average of 625 Oregonians lose their lives to gun violence—a heartbreaking and unacceptable toll on our communities. Ashley believes that even one life lost to gun violence is too many, and she is committed to taking action. Working with her Democratic colleagues, she will strengthen Ballot Measure 114 and the Community Safety Firearms Act by banning assault weapons designed for military use, requiring child-safety features on all new handgun models sold in Oregon, and advancing other commonsense gun violence prevention measures. Her focus is clear: protecting lives, safeguarding children, and building safer communities across the state.

Reproductive Health Care & Abortion Access

Oregon has long been a national leader in reproductive and abortion access, enacting the strongest reproductive rights law in the country. Yet under the Trump administration and the so‑called “One Big Ugly Bill” (H.R. 1), these lifesaving services are under attack. Ashley is committed to defending and expanding these rights, ensuring that reproductive health services remain fully funded and fully protected for all Oregonians. This includes advancing shield laws to safeguard individuals, providers, and helpers from out‑of‑state legal actions related to abortion and gender‑affirming care.

Clean & Safe Environment

Our state has always been at the forefront of environmental protection and leadership. Ashley supports innovative ideas like the Climate Superfund to hold corporate polluters accountable, ensuring that the biggest contributors of greenhouse gas emissions pay their fair share to fund climate resilience, clean energy, and environmental justice initiatives. From our raging rivers to our lush forests, Ashley is committed to protecting Oregon’s national treasures, reducing pollution, and creating a sustainable future for the next generation of Oregonians.

Affordability & Cost of Living

There is a cost-of-living crisis in Oregon and, in particular, our district. Groceries, housing, healthcare, gas, and other necessities are unaffordable for so many working families. Ashley will make this a top priority if elected to the legislature, ensuring millionaires pay their fair share and working families are able to invest in their kids.

Access to High Quality & Affordable Health Care

Every Oregonian deserves access to health care that is accessible, high-quality, and affordable, no matter their income or their zip code. Too many families are forced to choose between paying medical bills, keeping the lights on, or having a roof over their heads. Ashley believes in strengthening our health care system by lowering costs, expanding access to mental health and primary care services, and ensuring that rural and underserved communities are not left behind. She is committed to building a healthier, more equitable Oregon, where everyone can thrive.

Affordable Housing

Housing is a right, not a luxury. On the THPRD board, Ashley led the effort to secure waivers for affordable housing developers to build more than 400 affordable housing units. She also champions programs that assist first-time home buyers and build affordable rental housing as a city councilor. Ashley will prioritize securing dollars from the state to make sure people who want to stay in Beaverton are able to.

Protecting our Immigrant Communities

As a City Councilor, Ashley championed a partnership with the ACLU, PIRC, and Centro Cultural to host an event, educating community members on ICE activities in Oregon, how to respond to encounters, and ways to support and uplift our neighbors. More than a thousand participated across Oregon.

Ashley regularly is on the streets with other Migra Watch volunteers. This community-led network trains people to safely observe, document, and report ICE activity, informing and protecting immigrant communities through hotlines and rapid response.

In Salem, Ashley will stand firm in defending Oregon’s sanctuary state status and universal representation, ensuring that every community is protected and every voice is heard.

Economic Development

Ashley went to the Beaverton City Council to get things done for Beavertonians. On the Council, she voted to invest in small-business loans for micro- and small-business startups and ensured that Impact Beaverton, which invests in minority and small-owned businesses, was continually funded.
