Meet Ashley
Born and Raised in Beaverton
I was born and raised in Beaverton. My Dad is a painter, and my Mom is an early childhood educator. I was 5 years old when I started my first job, helping my parents with their second job as janitors. At night, my siblings and I would run down the halls, emptying trash bins from the offices. On weeknights, we each made $1, so we always aimed to do it as fast as we could to get home faster. On the weekends, we vacuumed and cleaned the bathrooms. While my siblings and I made a game out of it, it wasn’t a game to my parents; it was a lifeline. It was the income they needed to make sure they could afford rent each month or pay the phone bill.
College, Community,
and Finding My Partner
I graduated from local schools and earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Portland, Go Pilots! I became an avid women’s soccer fan, witnessing the elite talents like Christine Sinclair and Megan Rapinoe win two National Championships. There, I also met my husband, Brady.
After graduation, I commuted from Beaverton every day to attend law school at Willamette University. Brady and I got married shortly after and have been enjoying life with our rescue dogs ever since.
Resilience, Reinvention,
and a Career in Technology
After graduating, the Great Recession hit, and I was working as a contracts attorney when my department was laid off. I spent some time working in retail, and I got offered an entry-level job in technology. I have been in that field ever since.
Now, I help build innovative software to serve retailers ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. I went from Nike to Savage x Fenty by Rihanna, and now I am at Crate & Barrel as Director of Product Management.
From Frustration to Public Service
When Trump was first elected, I was heartbroken and mad. I was worried about the future ahead for my nephew and all the other kiddos in my life. I went to my first protest… and many more. In 2018, I knew I wanted to do more. I completed the She Should Run program and became a precinct committee person with the Washington County Democrats. In 2019, I signed up for Emerge and decided it was time to run for elected office. I ran for Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District (THPRD) Director and served until 2021. I then ran for the Beaverton City Council, was sworn in in October 2021, and then ran for re-election the next year.
Delivering for Beaverton
I’m proud of the major progress our community has made to ensure every resident has their basic needs met. How do you know I’ll deliver? I’ve got a history of delivering for my constituents:
Housing: Delivered 696 affordable units, 2,656 new homes, and 3,760 more units on the way. I also helped push for the creation of Beaverton’s first year-round shelter that provides families with social services. So far, 59 families who’ve used the shelter have secured permanent housing!
Childcare Centers: Delivered $150,000 in grants to upgrade and expand childcare centers so more Beaverton families can access care.
Small Business Investment: Secured $1 million in funding for loans and grants to strengthen minority‑ and women‑owned small businesses, supporting a more inclusive and resilient local economy.
Parks: Helped acquire federal AARPA dollars to build two permanent bathrooms at Evelyn Schiffler and Greenway parks.
Clean Drinking Water Infrastructure: Funded the North Transmission Line Intertie to deliver a seismically resilient, backup public water supply, ensuring public utility resilience during natural disasters.
You’ll often find me out for a walk with Brady and my rescue dogs Cupcake (15), Timmy (13), and Dottie (5), finding the best vegan food in Beaverton, celebrating local business at a Beaverton Area Chamber ribbon cutting, or at Providence Park at a Portland Thorns game.
I’m ready to represent Beaverton in Salem and deliver for all Oregonians.
